About the Department
9 East is a 24-bed surgical ward, caring for patients undergoing elective (joint replacement surgery) and emergency orthopaedic procedures. The unit facilitates trauma admissions and specialises in major bone tumour referrals and treatment of this patient group.  In addition, the specialty provides dedicated beds for rheumatology, priding itself on maintaining a culture focused on the delivery of high quality patient care and continuous improvement. 
 
About the Role
We are seeking a highly passionate, dynamic and engaging Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to manage our vibrant team on a full time fixed term basis. As a NUM you will manage, maintain and promote the professional standards of nursing practice to provide excellence in patient care, whilst managing the operational resources of the unit.
 
Duties
  • Manage operational resources in alignment with our organisational objectives, policies and procedures
  • Set, monitor, review and meet financial budgets, access targets and KPIs
  • Ensure that staffing rosters and staff deployment are organised to achieve effective program delivery
  • Promote excellent morale and a positive attitude to change within the Unit
  • Work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
 
Skills, Experience and Qualifications 
  • Previous experience as a Nurse Unit Manager in a clinical unit, ward or department
  • Leadership qualities with proven ability to direct enthuse and encourage a multidisciplinary team
  • Exceptional clinical and operational skills with a solid understanding of budget planning, preparation and management
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and drive change
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated financial management and project management skills
