About Department
The Department of Haematology provides comprehensive services to in-patients, day patients, outpatients and satellite clinics, through diagnosis and management of a wide range of benign and malignant haematological conditions. The Department also has an active clinical trials and research program and is engaged in medical education at all levels. The Department works in close collaboration with the Oncology, Specialist Surgical, Palliative Care and Psycho-Oncology Units within the hospital where the focus is to manage all patients in a multidisciplinary setting bringing together expertise from a range of disciplines and specialists.
About the Role
An opportunity currently exists for a Haematologist (or multiple Haematologists) to join St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne on a Fractional Fixed Term basis. The available position(s) range from 3.5 hours per week, 7 hours per week or 10.5 hours per week.   
The Clinical Haematologist is responsible for providing excellent specialist care in clinical haematology out-patient clinics at Goulburn Valley Hospital via physical visits and telehealth clinics. The Clinical Haematologist will be required to collaborate with the Oncology, Specialist Surgical, Palliative Care and Psycho-Oncology Units within the hospital to ensure patients receive multidisciplinary care. The position may encompass teaching and education of Junior Medical Staff and contribution to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Fortnightly Outpatient Clinics – alternating physical visits to GV Health and telehealth clinics
  • Attendance at unit meetings and journal clubs
  • Participation in Quality Improvement activities
  • Participation in and coordination where appropriate of  clinical trials and research projects in areas of interest
  • Contribution to teaching and education

Skills and Experience
  • Registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria
  • Membership of appropriate Specialist College [RACP or equivalent]

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil all St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Credentialing requirements before commencing in the position. All appointments are made subject to the candidate providing a current satisfactory National Police Certificate conducted by The Victoria Police.
